What is a house concert?

A house concert is a unique and fun way to share an evening of connection and music with your friends, family and neighbors! They can take place in backyards, living rooms, or a community space if you live in an apartment or condo. You don't need a mansion!

There is often food, drinks and engaging conversation and music, of course! It can be as simple or lavish as you want!

House Concert FAQ

1. I don't have a big house. Can I still host a concert?

Yes! You don't need a mansion! If you have a backyard or living room that can seat at least 20 people you're good! And if not or if you live in an apartment or condo, a community room/building can also work!

2. How many people should I invite?

An average house concert has 20-40 people that attend. What is beautiful about house concerts is the intimacy. We're looking for quality, not a stadium fill. I suggest you invite twice as many people as you want to come. Not everyone will say yes, and not everyone can come.

3. I don't know that many people, can I still host?

Yes! If you aren't sure you know enough people to invite you could team up with a friend and you invite your people and they invite theirs!

4. How much does it cost to host a concert?

Nothing unless you choose to purchase snacks, drinks, etc. Typically house concerts are donation based events, but tickets can also be sold. We can determine what is best. If donation based, at the end of the concert the donation jar can be passed around the room. A suggested donation is $15-20, but with it being donation based people can give less if they aren't able and can also give more should they want to.

5. How do I plan it?

The beauty of house concerts is that they are low-stress. Once we have a date picked, we can discuss a start time. Then you can set up a Facebook invite, Evite, and/or send emails to your network to let them know about it.

If you're hosting outdoors, have them bring a blanket or lawn chair. Encourage your guests to bring a dish, and it becomes a potluck! Whatever happens, don't stress! You're hanging out with your friends!

6. What is the evening flow of events?

It's good to give guests an hour to arrive, get comfortable, and chat it up before getting into music. The concert is usually 45-60 minutes.

7. I don't live in your neck of the woods, can you still perform here?

Yes, it's definitely a possibility! Especially if I can book something between here and there!
